Eminem has revealed more details about his upcoming Relapse 2 album and said the project would be more emotion-based than his platinum-selling Relapse.
Slim Shady says he will place more emphasis on his feelings rather than focusing purely on lyrics.
"[I'm] pretty much finished as far as recording," Eminem revealed. "I think all that's left to do is mix. And you know, in the mixing process, if I come up with anything else then [it will be on there.] I think it's gonna be a lot different, a lot different than what people expect as far as the contrast from the last record to this one, I think I went back...I got a couple of tracks with Mr. Porter, I got two tracks on the album with him so far, four, possibly five with Just Blaze and I think the overall basis of the record is -- it's more emotional driven. Like the last record, I was more concentrated on spitting, but with this record, I feel like there's some of that, but at the same time I went back to making songs with feels to them as opposed to just rap records...I'm putting everything I got into this next record. All my focus, just everything, I just want to finish that project and I'll take it from there." (Toca Tuesdays)He previously spoke with DJ Whoo Kid about collaborations on the project with artists including 50 Cent.
"Me and Fif did a couple of records, couple of months ago in Vegas, one song for my record and another for his," Em revealed in an interview last weekend. "We just wanted to like, I just had an idea to like 'Yo, why don't we do something we ain't done yet.' And kinda go back and forth, we've kinda done it on other records but not to the extent of what we're doing on this one...The way that it's going now, K'Naan has two [produced] tracks on the record and Just Blaze has four, possibly five...I definitely feel like I'm in a little different space right now. I don't know, with the last record, it felt like a lot of it had to do with me being sober...With Relapse 1 -- a lot of that album, I wanted to rap at fire and do punchlines." (Shade 45)Whoo Kid recently spoke about what rap heads should anticipate from Relapse 2 and promised a return of the "old" Slim Shady.
"What I really laughed at was the Mariah Carey [diss record]," Whoo Kid said in an interview. "That was funny. But that's nothing compared to Relapse 2. What I heard, that's just 2 percent [of the intensity]. Eminem from back in the day has returned. The crazy, lyrical, maniacal Eminem is back. Maniac! He was maniacal, but that was like, 'Let me come back now. Let me get my sh*t situated. Who I gotta go at? Let me see what's going on. Let me get comfortable.' Now that he's comfortable, now he's gonna be like [a monster] in Relapse 2. Good luck, people." (MTV)
