It is guaranteed that Scarface wont disappoint even if he isn’t involved with his albums release. Scarface’s last album, The Fix, proved that Face still has classic tales from the street to the church but its follow up lacks the thoroughness of his more original albums. Every Scarface verse is quality even if the album drags and you have to skip shit that Face isn’t even on.

Z-Ro, Devin, Bun B, and Tela are featured on the album which comes as a breath of fresh air to see his fellow southern artists by his side. Production from Mike Dean will make the album jam even if it is not Face’s full effort.

The intro is Al Pacino’s many famous lines that everyone has heard too many times, and if not, then definitely by the time this wack intro is over.

“Recognize” is one of the albums tightest songs cause Face gets his solo shine when he say shit like “How can a nigga from the South get a pass in every section and walk the projects with no protection? Be surrounded by a mob, and not get robbed Considered to be a savior, and not be God?”

“On My Grind” features Z-Ro and although he doesn’t drop a verse on this one, his chorus and Scarface’s youthful storytelling make this song real smooth.

“Bitch Nigga” features Z-Ro, Bun B, and Dirt Bomb and although it jams through controversy (the beat is blatantly laced with Dr. Dre’s beat from “In Da Club”) it has worth beyond face value. “Standstill” is some classic Scarface shit about moving in the dope game.

“Only Your Mother” with Devin and Tela seems like an old Rap-a-Lot collabo that the label is bathing in. Regardless, it’s a very smooth song about women that can only get love from their mothers.

“Make Your Peace” and “Spend The Night” are the albums slowest songs but they do have their moments. “Mary II” is a song about weed that is reminiscent of his untouchable days if you can get past the first minute of trash.

“Dirty Money” has a laid back guitar laced beat that falters with an obviously manufactured chorus. “Fuck’n With Face” will jam and “Invincible” would probably be tight if the beat wasn’t miserable. The album is okay as it sputters to mediocrity.

Anything that Scarface is on has definite potential, and maybe that’s all this Balls and My Word has. His lyrics can always be felt and the features would be real nice on a more complete album. His prior albums have set to high a standard to always be reached. The album is descent but falls behind a half dozen of his better albums.
