The intro takes you from Pastor
Troy past to the present. If you have been a Pastor Troy fan for years, you will know what
i'm talkin bout. it starts off with the phone call to no limit studio, then fades into
clips of his other songs like vice versa & this the city.
"Universal Soldier" is some classic Pastor Troy type $hit. Exactly what
you expect from Pastor Troy & DSGB. I think this was a good song to put first to shut
the critics up who may have thought he was changin his style to main stream.
I'm sho yall have heard "Are We Cuttin" already. It's a club banger
produced by Timberland. i aint in2 da mainstream $hit but its a question i use on a
regular basis..hahaz
UGK are featured on "If I Wasn't Rappin" Bun B ate this damn track up.
Pimp C spit da hook, and i wouldn't doubt if he produced the track. They basically sayin
even if they wasn't rappin they would still be hustlin & ballin.
"Who What When Where" is on sum usual Atl krunk $hit that Pastor Troy is
known fo'. He basically sayin that he da hardest nigga 2 represent the south
"Tell Em Its On" is anotha Timberland track. Tim tries to get krunk. My
opinion, all his crunk beats sound the same to me. but Pastor Troy verbally splits this
track in half. he dissin niggaz trading & switchin. i aint da one 2 start rumors,
maybe i should have asked him in the interview if he wa dissin J.D. but he put a verse in
about niggaz claimin atlanta & college park and then sellin out 2 Ny & $hit. they
need 2 stay true 2 Atl.
"4 My Hustlaz" is Pastor Troy's favorite track on the album. a song
dedicated to all those hustlin tryna make it every day and have somethin in life.
Troy is basically talkin bout gettin fukked up in da club on "Chug A
Lug". To bring reality in2 this song, i was talkin 2 a female bout a month ago from
Atl and she said she seen Troy all fukked up in da club talkin crazy. if you go clubbin,
you see niggaz like that all da time.
"You Can't Pimp Me" has got a Miami-Limba flavor feel to it. he basically
talkin bout cant nobody fukk ova him..he'd fukk ova himself b4 he let anotha nigga fukk
him. and cant nobody makin money off of him cuz he makin money off himself.
"Ima Raise Me" is my favorite song 4 some reason. its sum grimey $hit.
dedicated to niggaz growin up takin care of they responsibilities. teach ya kids how 2
become a strong man or woman. dont be no follower, be a leader.
"No Mo Playing" starts off with Troy callin up No Limit Studio again just
lettin da phone ring. nobody pickin up. he say they must be lookin @ da caller i.d &
$hit. the beat samples the original No Mo Play In G.A. just as crunk as the original one.
Pastor Troy & Church Boy. he starts off sayin "Wusup Big Mouth, You Still Talkin
Huh?" goes out 2 da fukk niggaz still talkin $hit. basically a No Mo Play remix.
"If They Kill Me" is crunk as hell. Troy say if you kill me, you bettah
be ready 2 move cuz his niggaz gone be ready kill you. Probably the crunkest song on the
album. definitely one of the crunkest.
"When He Comes" basically has Pastor Troy talkin bout waitin on the Lord
to come back for His people goin thru all these trials & tribulations. askin if the
Lord really comin back 2 get em or playin wit em.
"God Bless America" is a deep song bout bein an American. First
thing you think is Sept. 11. Jesus comin back soon. Talkin bout live each day to da
fullest. We need to unite one as a people with so much goin on since the Sept. 11th
attacks. he even goes on to talk about Bin Laden. a much needed song. its good 2 hear an
artist finally talk about dis $hit.
On the Outro Troy is showin luv 2 everybody who copped his album. be on da look out
4 Playa Fly album, DSGB family, DSGB 4 eva, etc.
The album ends with "Vice Versa" I'm sure you've already heard this by
now. its a good song to end the album after hearing God Bless America so it wsa a good
follow up song.
Universal Soldier is basically all of Troy albums wrapped up in one album. He
showed alot of versatility but still kept it Pastor Troy. The only difference is the
production. You will hear a few more songs bein played up in the club but lyrically he
aint changed $hit. so i think he found a way to reach mainstream but yet still keep it
underground. i'd say it was only 3 songs that i really wasn't feelin and those were da
timb tracks. and he even ripped those tracks so it made the tracks listenable. so props go
out 2 Troy. he really did his thang on this album. and hopefully he will shut critics up
with this album. peace. |
