Anybody can make one album, but
the second coming will often be looked at as your test if you will last in the rap game!
Now itīs Trinas turn to step up to the test! She begins with an intro by Sommore that
leads you to the first song "Hustling" which is her version of the old Eazy-E
song "No More ?" which yīall remember. C-Murder did his version on "Tru 2
Da Game". Anyhow, Signature produced this version and the delivery is all right, the
concept is old anyway.
"Told Yīall" featuring Rick Ross is a typical Trina song with a beat
laid by Cool & Dre. The chorus are simple, sheīs just repeating the phrase "I
told ya ass to get down now!" Rick Ross delivery is really decent I must admit! If
you like SNS you will like this!
Trina's new found friend in this industry, Missy Elliott, helps out on "Rewind
That Back". Now Iīm no huge Missy fan, she manages to deliver decent rap songs but
mostly itīs for the party that plays party-pop-rap. Sheīs not fake - but not raw in the
sense that I like. Anyway, Trinaīs not raw in that way either so they make an okay couple
here. Itīs strictly for the club/dance floor, not the trunk.
"B R Right" with Ludacris is lovely! Well now, every time Luda enters a
song he will help out for the better! The beat with the violins and a great back-up female
vocalist makes this song a Trina favorite of mine. The subject is your typical sex issue
song, and a lil material twist - wow totally new for Trina huh? Well seriously thatīs
what she do best anyway!
"U & Me" is a more serious song, stay together and weīll make it!
That type of song! You know her background, she was together with Trick Daddy's late
brother Hollywood and after he got killed she joined Trick on Ted Lucas new local indie
label Slip N Slide. She actually appeared on the very first SNS album "Tech
Life" in 1996 from Tre+6. She was the female on the intro to the song "Baby
Momma". But it wasnīt until Tricks second CD "www.thug.com" that she
rapped. And she really made a name for herself on the big hit "Nann". Anyway a
great song produced by Cool & Dre.
"Nasty Bitch" features Money Mark of Tre+6, another song on the
sex/material life tip - nothing extra but Mark delivers another great rhyme. Tre+6 is one
of the 3 most underrated southern groups to me - no lie! Next we have the single "No
Panties" featuring Tweet. The whole song was actually written by Missy, as well as
produced by her. She provided a cool first single for Trinas CD I must say. Trina tells
the men they ainīt getting to hit her for free - no never that!
Next to blow out the SNS camp is Deuce Poppi who joins Trina on "I Wanna
Holla" - your typical male vs. female song, nothing extra. "How We Do?"
featuring "Mr. I-Have-To-Spell-My-Name-Out-All-The-Damn-Time" aka Fabolous. A
simple electric guitar laced beat that allows the both of em to shine in their own way!
Now let me ask you, what is it with kids and rapping? Every damn rapper have their own
under age protege these days, so does Trina. Her 10-year-old friend Lil Brianna delivers
what you you can expect from a kid of that age on "Kandi". Iīm kind when I say
this is decent
On "Ladies 1st" we find Trina rocking with Eve, the last Ruff Ryder if
you want to. She is one of the most overrated female rappers in the game. Sure she
delivers your everyday ghetto lingo but nope this track didnīt do it for me - not at all!
The only song produced by the original SNS track providers Righteous Funk Boogie is
"Party Donīt Stop" featuring Jagged Edge. Too bad Funk Boogie donīt produce
more. They got a great formula and they tend to get overlooked for the job they put in
when it comes to shaping today's Miami sound I must say. Donīt forget them Trina or
whoever picks the producers! "100%" is another song with a more serious feel to
it, I really like it. Great beat and harmonizing back-up singing! Peep it!
The last song features a pretty new face on the rap scene - Bathgate - heīs an
alright rapper but donīt messure up to the quality of other rather new faces like
Ludacris or T.I. Itīs a well done song - but again, decent!
It ends with the outro. Okay Trina looks so great, but did she pass the test I
mentioned when it comes to skills and delivery? Well, yes! Trina delivers something for
the club cause thatīs what she does best, she canīt be La Chat or say a 1995 Gangsta
Boo. Sheīs the southern Foxy Brown - period! And yes we will see more of her in the
future - trust me! However I donīt think she has it in her to deliver a 5 Star album
anytime soon, but who knows |

Iīm Back! Been gone for a good while
due to my personal life but Iīm back and will not go anywhere, will continue bringing you
reviews! Got the new Trick Daddy here, his 5th solo delivery so does it measure up to past
hits?
It starts of with an intro of course, a couple of boys asking a bootlegger if he be
selling the new Trick CD, nothing special!
First real song is "All I Need" featuring Infa Red from
the up and coming group Unda Presha. An all right song which has a chorus inspired from
the old T Double D song "Thug Life Again", not much just a little. The chorus on
this one goes; "All I Need is big guns on the side of me/Bout to have a brick of yay
and a pound of weed/Straight do or die bitches that will die for me/How many niggas down
to ride with me?". It was produced by Supa whoīs also in the group Unda Presha. A
good album opener but it really just leads you the single and big hit called "In da
Wind" featuring Cee-Lo and Big Boi of OutKast. Now Iīm sure most of yīall have
already heard this song so I wont talk too much about it anyway, itīs a great song! I
love the element Cee-Lo brings to any song he's on, he's also a smooth rapper when it
comes to dropping rhymes! And Big Boi well heīs without a doubt among the best rappers in
Dungeon family so all in all Trick picked great guests on here. The guitar-laced beat
provided by Jazze Pha (now on CMR) is real slick! Two words; Love It!
"Gangsta" gives us Trick alongside Baby of Big Tymers and the Don himself
Scarface. A cool beat with a lil flute twist to it. Minnesota made it, and Iīm not really
sure about his past work but the outcome on this track really fits all three rappers. Baby
actually really shines here, the beat fits him really good I must say. Of course Scarface
delivered a great verse!
The title track is a real serious real-life
type of song. The type of song where you remember your lost and loved ones! Slow
piano-laced song with a real message! LaTocha Scott lovely takes care of the chorus.
I remember when I first heard Trick Daddy Dollars in 1996 on Tre+6 album, which was
the first Slip N Slide release, "Tech Life". He really stood out for me even
then. The thing about him is that he has been able to keep his Miami roots and mix it with
a new thuggish sound and take it nationwide - better yet Worldwide. Trick aint sold out
thus far and by the look of it shouldn't do that anytime soon. I got much respect for him
because of the realness he brings!
"Play No Games" featuring Co of Tre+6 is about Tricks message to them
ladies that be fiending for him letting them know he ainīt about playing them games -
simple and plain! A good beat by Lil John! "Let Me Ride" is the only track that
donīt sound good to me, a heavy rock twist to the beat. Donīt get me wrong, you can use
guitar but this one nope it just ainīt working. But "Rage to Riches" featuring
Tre+6 on the other hand really works out for the best. A typical SNS track, they use a lil
horn twist in the beat and all. A song that delivers what you has come to expect from
them!
"Ainīt No Santa" - which originally was the album title - is a track
that delivers Tricks point of view on all material songs. Everybody talks about what they
got, well listen to him as he talks about what he ainīt never had, what his people still
donīt have! I love this piano beat as well as the concept of the song. He even goes all
out on Bin Ladin telling him to watch out cause if he gets the chance he will kill him
without hesitation! Real life kid!
"SNS" is a small click song featuring Tre+6 and Deuce Poppi. His album
has been advertised and talked about for a while now, weīll see when he do release it.
From what I heard so far he comes clean and represent the SNS fam well. This song is all
right, once again you get what you want if you if you like the previous SNS releases.
"Godīs Been Good" featuring Betty
Wrightīs Childrenīs Choir is a little different from his previous
"featuring-children" songs. He praises God on a lil up-tempo song, pretty tight!
Even better is "Rain It Pours" which begins with Trick saying
"Hereīs the season to be jolly - jolly? For what?" A good opening which makes
you think. I think this song was made when the album has the old title, cause if Iīm not
mistaken that was supposed to come out around Christmas. Anyway, bump this song, a
definite hit!
"Money & Drugs" is the last track
before the 2 bonus cuts. Itīs a true Miami song, well the sound of Miami that SNS rep, a
thuggish song with a booty influence. The first bonus cut is a remix of "In Da
Wind", but itīs not better then the original. A little too bouncy, party-like. Kind
of cool but the original is just so great already! "Ainīt No Santa (Remix)" is
slightly different from the original, a cool remix thatīs all!
So will you like this - Yes! This is a good album no doubt! If you liked Trick
before youīll like this, if you on the other hand didnīt like Trick on previous CDs you
probably will not change your mind after this! Trick didnīt go anywhere, he still here
representing the Thugs to the fullest. He didnīt change at all - but hey if it ainīt
broke why fix it? |
