Rich Boy "Rich Boy" Album Review |
|
|
Rich Boy aka Maurice Richards has got alot of recognition from his single "Throw Some D's" an ode to the Cadillac and sellin crack. Some may thing he's gonna end up a 1-hit wonder, but not Down-South.com. He has much more to offer than a catchy summer hit and his self-titled debut album is evidence of that.

The album starts of with "The Madness" which was produced by Rich Boy. It's got a dark beat to it with filled with synthesizers and some hi hats and snare drums. "Role Models" is up next and it features David Banner & Attitude. This song is close to being tight, but the beat gets annoying after a while.
"Boy Looka Here" is Rich Boy's next single, the feedback on this song has been mixed, but I love it. The beat is real bumpin, it has alot of brass in it and it's definately a head nodder.
"Throw Some D's" is next, you've all heard this track before and you love it. The beat, the hook, the verses, the video...all around this is damn near a perfect song. I dont think I'll ever get tired of the chorus: "Rich Boy sellin crack / fuck niggas wanna jack / Shit tight no slack / Just bought a Cadillac / Throw some D's on that bitch!"
The middle of this album starts to slow down some, and there's a few tracks in there that you will probably skip over, but thats fine because there's still some bangers coming up at the end.
Quite possible the best song on the album is "And I Love You" if they put out a third single from "Rich Boy" this had got to be it! It was produced by Mr. DJ and the beat is a 10 out 10. There's some trumpets in it and a female voice singing "And I Love You" throughout the track. Did I forget to mention that Big Boi from Outkast and Pastor Troy are both featured on this song? Well they are and that makes it even better.
The album closes out with "Lets Get This Paper" which is a real uptempo reflective song and the remix to "Throw Some D's" which features Andre 3000, Jim Jones, Nelly, Murphy Lee & The Game.
This album has some real bangin songs and his has some garbage songs, but the good outweighs the bad on this album. If you like the 2 singles you've heard from his so far, you should check the album out. |
