Triple Six Mafia has put out a greatest hits CD from their Prophet Entertainment days, which took place in the mid to late 90's, which saw some of the best albums ever released by Memphis artists.

"Da Summa" appeared on Mystic Stylez (A must own) It's a real laid back track about kickin it in the summer.  The song has verses by DJ Paul, Koopsta Knicca, Lord Infamous & Juicy J. Definately a classic track that had to be on this collection.

Up Next is "Gettem Crunk" from The End (Three 6 Mafia CD - 1997) This is a very uptempo throw an elbow type of track.  MC Mack, Lord Infamous, Juicy J, Gangsta Boo & DJ Paul appear on this song.

"Throw Yo Sets In Da Air" is from their EP "Live By Yo Rep: Bone Dis" hmm. whatever happened to Bone? That EP is probably Three 6's rarest CD Release as it wasnt a full release, definately worth checking out. This isnt even the best track from it and it's a tight ass track.

"Smoked Out Loced Out" is from Prophet Posse: Body Parts.  They've remade this song about 5 times now, dating back to 1994.  I always loved these click songs that featured about 10 of the Prophet members, it's something that I looked forward to from every album back then.  K-Rock, Lord Infamous, Crunchy Black, Gangsta Boo, Juicy J, Project Pat & DJ Paul drop verses on this song.

"Gotta Touch Em" is definately one of Three 6 Mafia's best song and had to be on this collection.  It's from Mystic Stylez. This song features their patented hardcore, scary sound and some top knotch verses along with a sampled hook.  This time from Gangsta Blac "Psycho in the cut, with a mask and a pistol grip"

I assumed "Late Nite Tip" was gonna be on here as it was one of their earliers hits, It is of course on here, I've always hated this song.  It's just aint Three 6 Mafia to me.  It signified the beginning of the end of the underground Three 6 Mafia and the starting point of mainstream Three 6 Mafia.

Up next is "Triple Six Club House" which is a song from Prophet Posse: Body Parts. The song is performed solely by Lord Infamous and what I really love about the track is that the beat changes halfway through to some classical shit.

"Good Stuff" is from The End, like alot of rap coming out of Memphis in the 90's and even currently it's devoted to drugs.  Most predominantly, cocaine.  It's almost impossible to listen to a memphis rap CD from the 90's without hearing a reference to personal use of cocaine.  It's comparable to syrup in Houston.  Great track with a real nice verse from Juicy J & Koopsta Knicca.

Some other notables are "Tear Da Club Up", "Wheres Da Bud" & "Porno Movie"

A Prophet Greatest Hits collection should contain songs from all or most of their releases on Prophet. Where's a Gangsta Blac song from "Can It Be"? ("Down Wit SPV", "Where I Dwell" or "Tire Shop") Where's a Skinny Pimp song from "King Of Da Playaz Ball"? ("One Life 2 Live" or "I Dont Love Em") Why not a track from The Kaze's CD "Kamakazie"?  Three 6 Mafia have dropped alot of underground CD's and Greatest Hits CD's and unfortunately as always the great contributions from previous members have vanished into oblivion. It's a godamn shame.

This is a 2-disc set.  The 2nd disc is chopped and screwed by DJ Black and is basically worthless.  Yea it would've nice to hear their old classics chopped and screwed, but its not done very good.  Would've been better to have some more old classics on here.  I'm sure they'll do a volume 2.  After all, they are smart businessmen.

If you dont have alot of Three 6 Mafia and are interested in getting some of their old songs, definately pick this one up, do yourself a favor though.  Pick up every release by Prophet Entertainment.  As well as Super Sigg Records (Playa Fly & Gangsta Blac)

Where's the Underground Devil Shit?

The songs on this junt are pretty bumpin' and what not, especially compared to most of the crap commin out today, but i've always thought Three 6 should go and rerelease more of those hard azz junts that were featured on their underground tapes. Luckily I was able to find about 30 of those old school tapes released by Paul and Juice back in the early 90's all the way up to when the Mystic Stylez cd came out, for a hell of a deal too. There are people out there who will pay 20 bucks these days for an old school Triple 6 tape. Fifteen years or so from now no one's gonna pay that kinna money for old Lil Wayne/Young Joc bullshit, that shits already old anyway if you ask me. Those old school Triple 6 tapes in my opinion are way better than the stuff they are putting out today, the basslines were more bumpin, the flows were sicker (especially Lord Infamous), and the instrumentals and song topics were more interesting to listen to and tighter eventhough they didn't have as much equipment to work with as they do today. I think Three 6 needs to call themselves DJ Paul and Juicy J these days cuz they've lost alot of core members in their click over the past 10-12 years (Gangsta Boo, Koopsta Knicca, Crunchy Blac, Playa Fly, Kingpin Skinny Pimp, Gangsta Blac, and now Lord Infamous just to name a few). I know alot of you clowns think that its the shit how that lil fuc boi Wayne has a new mixtape out about every month featuring his punk azz, but back in the day Paul and Juice used to come out with shit like crazy too, except their shit was way more bumpin than the garbage commin' out today. If you don't believe me...just wait 15 years or so from now when all these assholes you hear on BET and the radio non-stop 24-7 today are long forgotten.
