Yung Joc "Hustlenomics" Review Print E-mail

ImageYung Joc is determined to avoid the sophomore jinx. His first album "New Joc City" was a hit, but can he follow it up? "Hustlenomics" contains the singles "Coffee Shop", "Bottle Poppin" & "Play Your Cards" it features Young Dro, Bun B, Gorilla Zoe, Rick Ross, Trick Daddy and more.

Rating:
Following the intro is the first track "Play Your Cards" a bangin track produced by Cool & Dre. Filled with brass & synthesizers and a real catchy chorus, this song is all about hustling to your potential and getting everything you can get.

"Coffee Shop" was the first single from "Hustlenomics" it created a little bit of controversey because many think the song is all about selling dope, but its a song about getting it however you can get it. Don Vito produced it & Gorilla Zoe is featured on the song.

Gorilla Zoe is also featured on "Bottle Poppin" which has a darker feel to it than other tracks on this album, it sounds a little bit like a Memphis track with heavy hittin bass and cymbals throughout. The flows by Joc & Zoe are addictive and on point on "Bottle Poppin"

One of the tightest beats on the album is "I'm A G" featuring Young Dro & Bun B. This head nodder features top knotch verses from the beginning to the end with a clever chorus. In particular Young Dro dropped some gems.

"Pak Man" is one of the most original tracks of the year, it has a real laid back beat filled with alot of hi-hats and snares. The verses on "Pak Man" have a vocal effect on them, giving them a real high pitch. At times throughout the track Yung Joc & Pak Man go back and forth trading bars. Very bumping track, check it out.

"Living The Life" is a mellow track with an R&B feel to it. It features Southern Girl on the hook. "Momma" is a Dear Mama type of song. I know what you're thinking, that's a little bit lame. But its actually a very bumpin song. Jazze Pha helps out producing the song and delivering the chorus. This song is dedicated to his momma and hardships they've endured.

Trick Daddy & Block join Yung Joc on "Chevy Smile" which is another track produced by Jazze Pha. I wouldnt be surprised to see this released as a single in the future, its a real bumpin song and would make a nice video. Trick Daddy fits perfectly on this song.

Other bangin tracks include "Cut Throat" which has a heavy west coast feel to it, it feaures The Game, Jim Jones & Block and was produced by DJ Quik. Diddy joins Yung Joc on the bumpin track "Hell Yeah"

Yung Joc definately avoided the sophomore jinx with "Hustlenomics" I'm already looking forward to his Junior album.  You can almost listen to this album all the way through, there are a few tracks that you will definately skip, but there are alot more tracks you will put on repeat.

yea Diddy must paid ya'll to say that shit b/c the album was weak compared to his first one which was hot, and any down south lover would tell you the same. There was only 3 songs that I liked. Bottle Poppin' wit Zoe had a nice feel to it, Pak Man was also good, and finally Momma was a nice track. But everything else was just weak, and with the all-star list of features he had with main-stream artists such as The Game, Bun-B, Trick Daddy, Snoop Dogg, and Rick Ross its was a huge dissappointment. While his first album had jams such Dope Boy Magic, Hear Me Comin', Knock it Out, Its Goin' Down, and Do Ya Bad. It just seems that this album was rushed alittle. Hope the next one is better.

This CD aint fire, it's not New Joc City, it's not "Welcome to the zoo" it's not even "Mixtape Fire" good, but.

BUT!!!!!

it's not bad, i wouldn't go out and buy this CD..but nowadays CD's gotta be off tha f'in CHAIN for me to pay $$ for...(if it's good i'll give ya my money...real talk)

It wasn't a rushed production, it's just a whole different tone....it's completely different..

It's a completely Diff Joc..
The whole CD is a CD you can put on and have playing and if it repeats you won't notice it. Which isn't GREAT, but it's not bad...
People who just like to chillax will feel this CD no problem.

IT's just a buncha "chill music" There ain't nothing even CLOSE to "it's goin down" which had the country ridin motorbikes..

THere's nothing even CLOSE to that other crappy single NewJocCity had (that one the dirty ho's on the block and fagg nigga's loved)

but this isn't by ANY means a FLOP Cd...it's just a diff CD, it's not a "souther Rap Swagger Hustle" cd..it's just a "Yung Joc CD"
its good

To start things off 1sssssstttttttt bitches. Next his first cd was hot. It had a numerous amount of crunk songs on there. His second album isn't asgreat but its still good. Like said a few comments be4, this Cd is more to just chill and relax. It has a different sound to it. I've been waitin 4 this cd for months now and i thought it would be better. But he still has some Crunk songs like bottle poppin and Gettin Da money. The problem also with this album was that he released some of his singles a lil tooo early. I heard bottle poppin in March nad coffee shop in April so i expected a lot from this... but it kinda let me down.. There is always next year though....

Y'all know what I hate? homies who have the nerve to fuckin review an album without even listening to it. I mean dam, you don't like joc? Don't gotta go bash his CD, its obviously not your style, but in the genre of rap music its in, the shits tight. I agree with this review nearly 100% except I especially like Cut Throat and I think BYOB is a unique song too, kind of party like a rockstar style type of song. I was very pleased with the cast of features he has on here, I'm not usually a fan of features because they usually add some shit and they just think the name will help the CD sell, but every verse of every featured artist on here was straight fire or at least quite good, there was no "let me just put him on here to sell me records" features.

I don't know if i like it better then new joc city, the flow and style of that was sick, this is different but still VERY good.

My favorite songs:
Cut Throat
Chevy Smile
I'm A G
Brand New (hook is whack but the verses are killin it)
Bottle Poppin'
Play Ya Cards
Pak Man

Least Favorite Songs:
BYOB
Living the Life
Hell Yeah
By The Way

btw, for joc to release this album so soon after his first and it to be this good, i'm impressed.

Play Ya Cards = Banger
Chevy Smile = TDD kills it
I'm a G = Hot track, dro kills it.

Reality
BYOB as people have said...is probably the lamest song on the CD..and it's not a AWFUL Song..it just really doesn't belong on a big time CD..it's more of a Mixtape track
This Is A Review?

All These Songs Mentiond Were Alll Leaked On The Internet Weeks Ago, As A Matter Of Fact I Got Them ALL Shit I Thought They Were All Throw Away Tracks, But I Guess Not. This Wasnt A Good Review Personally I Guess I Gotta Find Out From The Streets Before I Go Cop This Album I Thinkd It'll Be Pretty Good Though His Last One Was A Surprise I Thought All He Had Was "Its Going Down" He Proved Me Wrong.

WACK, WACk, WAck, Wack! This CD was horrible, anyone who says different pick up a few classics from the last 2 decades, listen to them, and then compare this to those.
