Damn man, a
whole double disc from the number one Maab! So do they keep the interest of the listener
up for the close to 2 hours they keep going?
"Dirty Southside" features Hawk and Chris Ward. All verses are cool as is
the beat but it's the chorus that are the best part of this song, computerized voice of I
don't know who signing over the chant "Dirty South Side"! Great album opener!
"Everybody Wanna Know" has Trae and Dougie D tongue
twisting, really a 2002/2003 beat! "Neva Gone Change" is a lot more laid-back
but still with a pretty fast rhyme delivery. Like it, like it!
"F.A.N. (Fake Ass Niggas)" is a really real song, pretty up-tempo in a
cool way! "I'm Known To Get Fly" continues the high quality they sat when the
album began. You might think I talk a little bout each song, but hey I want it to be
known, the songs speak for em self. The quality they have is remarkable. Their high lowest
level of delivery is already well known, if you don't know better ask somebody! Plus we
dealin with a double album here!
"Hatin My Song" features Z-Ro, great to hear em flow together again, no
beef here peoples. "Ain't No Nigga Like Me" also features Z-Ro. However the
small Rock element to the beat could have been left out. Your head will be noddin still!
The rock guitar ain't a too heavy tone!
"Life As A Thug" is among the best
songs from the Maab ever and for sure among the best on the album! Laid-back song with
singing in the chorus and real tongue twisting over a dope beat!
After that we get three bonus classics "Neva Give Up" featuring Peaches
and Raw-D, "If You Wanna Know" featuring Peaches, Kerdro and Raw-D and also
"Southside Story" featuring Hawk and Willean are all great tracks, especially
the last of the three. Hawk is another really underrated rapper that should be talked
about more for his strong delivery and skills.
Now for the second disc, first of the title track featuring Z-Ro and Big T. A cool
song! "Every One Of Y'all" is a bit slower but not in a bad sense at all. Both
Trae and D stayed on point as far as delivering tight rhymes!
"Streets Got Ya" features T.C. and Shyna everybody involved with this track did
their job in a good way, this is one of my personal favorites on the album, how bout you?
"Who Dat" features ghetto vets Pharoah and Z-Ro and the fast rapping
continues here. I especially like Pharoah's verse, and of course Z-Ro is always tight!
Hell, I like all rappers here! "2 All You Hoes" ain't dedicated to the females
especially - it's dedicated to all folks that been saying the Maab done lost what they
had. This is another Top 5 song from the album, "on the real it's going down!"
"See Me In My Casket" might feature
Rakesh Jacobs best beat on the album, he did all tracks on the whole double CD anyway. A
tough job. But this one really is on point, it's up-tempo in a good why!
To end the album they have the song "Keep Watching Me" a song that feels
summer time so to speak. They got ladies doing the back up vocals in a lovely way, and of
course the fast phased lyrics that are their trademark is there. However not in a record
breaking kind of tempo!
Like I said to have 1 beat maker on a whole double CD is tough, you could easily
fall into the trap of a tired sound, somewhere halfway it's understandable if the producer
start to recycle his sound when he run out of ideas. But Rakesh took the challenge and did
it good. Songs like "Leave The Game" and "Work Something" could be
considered fillers, other then that you have many southern fried gumbo songs to have most
southern rap fans satisfied after finish listening to the two discs/tapes. Maybe with a
variation of producers and a small sharpening of the rhymes on some tracks they could have
collected 5 stars but all in all it's a really great album. Not at all a disappointment!
Pick it up today if you see it, you will be happy with your purchase, I'm positive you
will! |
