Lil Jon and The Eastside Boyz been
hitting us up with some of the crunkest since 'Get Crunk, Who U Wit', when they was making
everyone from Georgia to Texas throw dem bows. At the time booty shaking music was very
popular. Now they come with a new label, TVT Records, and their newest project, 'Put Yo
Hood' Up', which is being hpyed by the new single "Bia Bia".
The first track, "Ya'll Ain't Ready", introduces Lil Jon and Eastside Boyz. This
intro has a wicked ass beat that has a crunk feel to it. "Uh Ohh", which
features Khujo of Goodie Mob and Bo Hagon, is the next song. It is just as crunk as the
intro. This song is basically composed of mostly chants, but it still equals to a good
track. Bo Hagon basically rips shit up with a laid back flow. "I was raised with
killas / I ran with dealers / I smoke a blunt a day for my locked away niggas / my bread
is stacked up / the club is packed up / my gauge out there racked up / so don't you even
act up." You may have noticed this track from last years album 'We Still Crunk'. Even
though it's nothing new it's still a tight track. "Put Yo Hood Up", the title
song, doesn't stop with the chants, they bring the same formula except with out the rap
verses. You may have also noticed this track from the 'We Still Crunk' album. "Bia
Bia" is the next song and the crunkness continues. Everyone has already heard this
song, seen the video, and all that. This song right here is like a club anthem! Chyna
White, Ludacris, and Too Short all collaborate and lay down equally tight verses on this
song.
"Who U Wit" another old crunk ass song is also featured on the album. It was
featured on the 1997 release 'Get Crunk Who U Wit'. "Let My Nuts Go" features
Too Short and Quint Black. This is another older song. "Couldn't be a better player
than me / Even if you fucked everyday of the week." You might remember it from
another release, I can't think of the name at the moment. "Move Bitch" is
another older song from the 'We Still Crunk' album. This song features Three 6 Mafia. This
song, even though old, comes with a wicked beat and average verse. Track 9, "Heads
Off My Niggas" features M.O.P. For ya'll who don't know who M.O.P. is they are some
N.Y. rappers, but they come with that hardcore style something like Lil Jon and Eastside
Boyz only with a New York twist. This is the second new track from the album so far.
"Can't Stop Pimpin" features those pimps Big Ball and G (Eightball and MJG).
This track is pretty much explanatory. It's about the game of pimpin and MJG spits the
first verse very vividly. The beat on this track has moved on from crunkness to laid back
playa style. Obie brings a bit of R&B flavor to the track with her vocals.
"Bounce Dat Ass", featuring Chyna White, is another older club track from the
album 'We Still Crunk'. It's worth a listen but I usually skip it. "Nothins
Free" also features the R&B crooner Obie. This track tells a story about those
girls in the club who ain't cuttin' nothin' unless u break 'em with something.
"Where Dem Girlz At" was another track that was from their last album. It
reminds me of their hit single, "I Like Dem Girls", which is the next track.
Since they have gone national, I think they did what Pastor Troy did with his new album,
which was add a whole bunch of older songs. In a way that is sort of smart. It provides
the national listeners with an album they never heard. In a way its also bad, it gives
their old listeners old material they have more than likely heard already. "I Like
Dem Girls" was a big hit last year as I mentioned before. It had got attention from
the majors and even had a video that showed on BET during Rap City. "Nasty
Girl", which features Obie again, samples an old bootie bass song I can't think of.
This song would more than likely be played up in the club.
"DJ Hershey Live At The Blue Flamlude" is sort of an interlude. It's almost like
a mini song with features some scratching and sample of Hitman Sammy Sam's voice. "Go
Shawty Go" featuring Kilo Ali, is another bootie bass song you might here in the
club, skip it. "Outro Chynalude", features thugged-out Chyna White rippin' shit
up. She should go ahead and drop an album. This song/interlude is a must check out.
"Bia Bia 2", last track, is the original version only without Ludacris. Too
Short actually rips on this one. Too Short goes off on fake wanna-be players, spiting
"Pour me some bombay and fire up that bomb / bout time somebody check you you bitch
ass punk / I heard you slapped your woman cuz she told you the truth / real niggas bring
out the hoe in you." |
